Role, Circulation and Molecular Characterization of Integrons and ICEs in Clinical and Environmental Vibrio

چکیده
Mobile genetic elements are essential for the acquisition of new genetic information and genomic recombination. Among these, integrons and ICEs of the SXT/R391 family are involved primarily in antibiotic resistance diffusion and in other adaptive functions in Vibrio. Many studies indicate that mobile genetic elements are also important factors of genetic variability and suggest their role as potential vectors of cryptic functions. Resistance to drugs, molecular structure, geographic distribution and epidemiological relationship of these genetic elements circulating in Vibrio spp isolates from Africa and Vietnam (19852003) are described.

The Role of aac(6)-IIa and ant(2'')-Ia Genes and the Presence of Class 1 Integrons in Resistance of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Clinical Isolates against Aminoglycosides
Background and purpose: The aminoglycoside modifying enzymes (AMEs) and class 1 integrons in clinical isolates of pseudomonas aeruginosa are the major factors leading to rapid spread of antibiotic resistance. The aim of the present study was to investigate the frequency of aac(6)-IIa, ant(2'')-Ia, and class 1 integrons in clinical isolates of pseudomonas aeruginosa. Materials and methods: For ...

Objective(s): The nosocomial infections by Aspergillus species are associated with constructions and increased dust loads in hospital indoors. Our main object was to find the environmental sources of Aspergillus species causing hospital acquired infections. Materials and Methods: The clinical and environmental samplings were performed during 18 months from spring 2010 to summer 2011 in Imam ed...
متن کاملNew cluster of plasmid-located class 1 integrons in Vibrio cholerae O1 and a dfrA15 cassette-containing integron in Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolated in Angola.
The resistance profile and its correlation with mobile genetic elements were investigated in 11 Vibrio cholerae O1 and 2 Vibrio parahaemolyticus clinical isolates, as well as in 1 V. cholerae O1 and 1 V. cholerae non-O1 environmental isolate, isolated between 1991 and 1996 in different provinces of Angola. All clinical isolates of V. cholerae O1 were resistant to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, tr...
متن کاملOccurrence and composition of class 1 and class 2 integrons in clinical and environmental O1 and non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae strains from the Brazilian Amazon.
This study identified and characterised class 1 and 2 integrons in clinical and environmental Vibrio cholerae O1 and non-O1/non-O139 strains isolated from the Brazilian Amazon. The aadA2 and aadA7 gene cassettes were found in class 1 integrons in two genotypes of environmental V. cholerae non-O1/non-O139. Empty integrons were found in strains from the Brazilian cholera epidemic. A class 2 integ...
متن کاملComparison of Distribution of Virulence Determinants in Clinical and Environmental Isolates of Vibrio cholera
Background: The virulence of a pathogenic Vibrio cholerae is dependent on a discrete set of genetic determinants. In this study, we determined the distribution of virulence determinants among the clinical and environmental isolates of V. cholerae. Methods: The antibiotic resistance profiles of the isolates were determined using standard disk diffusion assay. PCR assay was performed to analyze t...
